Spring
Spring is attractive because you can bypass the expensive and busy tourist seasons. Hiking conditions at Rocky Mountain National Park are excellent for exploring the 300 miles of breathtaking trails. Stroll through scenic open meadows and admire the vivid wildflowers that grow abundantly. Take a dip in one of Colorado’s hot spring pools and relax while listening to the bubbling water. Whitewater rafting is ideal in the spring because the snow starts to melt into the many streams. Paddle through the rushing streams for an awe-inspiring voyage for beginners to Class V adrenaline junkies.
The Great Sand Dunes, located in Medano Creek at the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, are the tallest dunes in North America. Challenge yourself by riding on an ATV, and explore the sandy hills.
Summer
Many people visit during the summer for warm weather and outdoor activities. Mountain bike through Breckenridge Trails for an unforgettable experience. Start off by loading your bike onto the Colorado SuperChair, and travel downhill before riding down blue, green and black mountain bike-specific trails.
Listen to a concert or watch a film at The Red Rocks Amphitheatre concert venue, a famous site with acoustic perfection made by mother nature herself. Legendary performers such as Jimmy Hendrix, The Beatles, John Denver, and U2 are among the many iconic musicians and bands that have given concerts in this magnificent venue that continues to draw crowds from across the world.
Visit one of the many beaches around Colorado for fun under the sun. The “beaches” are actually reservoirs, but the tranquil mountain views make up for the lack of water horizons. Float in the crisp water or breathe in the fresh air while you sunbathe. Make sure to lather up with sunscreen and take cover under umbrellas for safety. Fishing, paddling, or kayaking are more activities to enjoy.
Fall
Leaves begin to fall during the fall season. Take a ride on the Telluride gondola for a bird’s eye view of the gold foliage scattered on the town below. Bring your camera and capture the valleys full of remarkable evergreens and aspens. Take an evening horseback ride, or lay on a blanket and experience the stars for views of a lifetime. Ride on a hot-air balloon to observe Colorado from an entirely different perspective. Most resorts in the major cities offer hot-air balloon rides.
Winter
Become a spectator and watch athletes compete during the thrilling, action-packed Winter X Games. The Winter X games might inspire you to get in on some of the action yourself. The city of Vail provides some of the best resort skiing available. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned skier, the vast, snowy terrain offers awe-inspiring views while skiing.
Spend time in Colorado, and you’ll find out why it’s a world-renowned destination during every time of the year.
