Even if you’ve never been to Las Vegas, you probably have an idea of what it’s all about. We see this great city of lights featured on television, in movies, and referenced nearly everywhere. You know what Las Vegas is, even if you haven’t been there yourself.
If you’re planning a trip to Las Vegas, you might be worried about costs. It’s definitely a place that you can sink a lot of cash into, but there are also some things you can do that are completely free.
Here are some great free things to do in Las Vegas:
- Fall of Atlantis at Caesar’s Palace Forum Shops – See a collection of statues regularly come to life in the free show presented at the Forum Shops. It’s fun, it’s different, and it’s free!
- The Cactus Garden at Ethel M's Chocolate Factory - Take a self guided tour of how they make the chocolate at Ethel M's and then walk around the Botanical Cactus Garden. It is the largest Botanical Cactus Garden in the South West and it is beautiful.
- The Park – For an acre between New York-New York and the Monte Carlo, you will find the Park. This walkway features a variety of restaurants and it features beautiful landscaping unique to drought-ridden areas like Nevada. It’s a great way to get away from the busy Strip for just a bit.
- Mirage Volcano – A few times a day, the Mirage’s volcano comes to life, erupting in a great reproduction of the real thing. It’s a fun, exciting site to see and crowds gather all over the sidewalks to get a look at it. You won’t see this anywhere else and you don’t have to pay anything for the experience.
- Fremont Street Experience – Ah, Fremont Street! It’s full of the bright lights that Vegas is so known for and you don’t have to spend money to experience the sights and sounds for yourself. Just head on down and walk around.
- Fountains of Bellagio – These dancing waters in front of the Bellagio are one of the most iconic scenes in Las Vegas these days. They are beautiful, shooting over 100 feet into the air, and swaying and racing in patterns over the lake. It doesn’t cost you anything to drive or walk over to see them.
- Calico Basin – It’s located outside city limits, but admission is free and it’s so worth taking time to see it. Calico Basin is known for its scenic drive but you can also walk along the hiking trails or boardwalk, and there are even picnic tables. It is a beautiful place to enjoy a picnic lunch and soak up the great views.
- Conservatory at the Bellagio - The Bellagio also has a beautiful conservatory with seasonal themed displays. The display easily rivals some of the displays I have seen while visiting the Philadelphia Flower Show.
Of course, there are many more free things to do in Las Vegas. These are just a few.
In addition to this list, you need to try to make it to see the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign. This sign is a classic landmark, long associated with the city and you really can’t complete a visit to Vegas without stopping by to give it a look. It was designed in 1959 by Betty Willis and is now so popular, it even has its own parking lot to accommodate visitors coming to see it.
Now that you know about these free things you can do in Las Vegas, there’s no reason not to start planning your trip today.
