I have been working on some DIY projects around the house for about a year now. We started by redoing all of the paneling on the walls in the living room. It was such a long process because we had to spackle each individual line in the paneling. And then it took so many coats of paint. It looks fantastic now but believe me it was a nightmare.
Then we started working on the floors. We had the nastiest carpet. We have lived in this house for 12 years, and the carpet was here when we moved in. Thankfully I had some manual labor I could put to work for me. They were not much help putting in the new floor, but hey, I can’t have everything I want.
I have a lot of projects in the house that I want to work on, but as I have said before, I kind of bounce all over the place when I am working on projects, and I tend to have trouble staying in one area of the house for long. So since the weather has started being so nice, I can not bare the idea of being inside the house any longer than I have to. All I want to do is spend more time outside. That means that my projects have gone outside too.
I have this beautiful garden that I started last year, but I really want to expand on the way the yard looks. I have such big plans on how I want the landscaping to look. That means, I have been spending hours online searching different plants, different layouts and different deck designs.
During my searches, I have absolutely fallen in love with this flower landscape. I just love how it looks like I have walked into some fairy tale land.
And then of course I need somewhere to sit while I am enjoying such a gorgeous view. I can dream about being able to have something like this, somewhere among the flowers.
Once I am done all of my daydreaming, and my family rudely reminds me that I can’t really have a garden like that in my little yard, and that I do not have a gorgeous pond waiting for me, I start looking for some realistic options on what I can do in the yard. I am been thinking about adding a deck to the house. We always do the projects ourselves. I really enjoy DIY projects. It has 2 benefits for us. I can afford a diy deck much easier than paying for someone to build it for me, but I also feel accomplished once I get them finished.
I would love to be able to start on a deck at some point soon, but until then, my Pinterest boards will be filled with all kinds of inspiration ideas. When you are looking at your yard, what kind of things are you daydreaming about adding?
