Yes, you can call the road side service people, but who knows how long it will take them to actually come and get you and change your tire. If you know how to do it yourself, you can be back on the road in a few minutes, It isn’t hard to change a tire. There are only a few basic steps.
How to Change a Tire
You want to find a safe flat space to change the tire. Avoid hills and avoid traffic. You can be hard to when you are down at tire level and you want to make sure you are safe.
After parking the car, put a brick or a large rock behind the front and the back tires. This will keep the car from rolling. You will need the spare tire and the car jack. Check the owner’s manual on where you can find the jack and the tire. While looking at the owner’s manual, also look for where the correct place to place the jack. If you do not place the jack in the right space, it can cause damage to the car.
Raise the car enough that it is supported on the jack but it is not raised completely. Take off the hub cap and loosen the lug nuts with the lug nut wrench. Many jacks use the lug wrench to lower and raise the jack. So check the handle of the jack. Also, not all tires use the same lug nut wrench. Use the one that came with your car if you can.
