Although we celebrate and adore our cats every day, now is the perfect time to show them how much we care. What would our lives be without their pleasant interruptions and warm nuzzles?

Join me as I help protect my cat, Pixie, from rabies.

Did you know that in 2013, nearly 500 domestic animals within the United States contracted the rabies virus, and cats accounted for more than half of these cases?1 If you’re like me, you love your cat’s playful nature; however, a cat’s natural curiosity can put it at risk for rabies infection. Even indoor cats can be exposed to rabies.

Merial, the maker of PUREVAX® Feline Rabies vaccines, is encouraging cat owners to visit their vet and ensure that their cats are currently vaccinated against rabies.

The vet’s office may not be Pixie’s favorite place, but vaccination provides me with the peace of mind that she is protected.

A few simple tips to make the trip to the vet less painful include:

Get your cat comfortable with the carrier. Bring it out a couple of days before your visit so he/she can explore the new object.
Give lots of love, praise and treats for playing with the carrier. Make it an enjoyable experience.
Try adding a blanket to the carrier so it’s a comfy environment.
Find a veterinarian that’s right for you and your pet. Check out the vet finder on www.purevaxpureprotection.com.
Stay relaxed and keep making the effort.

You can learn more about rabies by visiting www.purevaxpureprotection.com and playing Feline Defense, an educational and interactive game. And don’t forget to #VaxYourCat!
