Disney World tickets don't come cheap. In fact, they're typically the second largest expense after accommodations. It is the same with tickets to Disneyland. Everyone wants to save money on tickets to Disneyworld. There are several ways to save money on theme park tickets. If you are heading to California, you will want to save money on Disneyland tickets. Here are a few suggestions to get you started.
Forgo the Add-Ons
Skip the add-ons! This is by far one of the easiest ways to cut the cost of your DW admission tickets. "Park Hopper" tickets and the added water parks option might sound like a great deal, at first. Before you spend the extra cash, ask yourself this. Do we really want to hang out in more than one park on the same day? Chances are, the answer is no.
As of this writing, the difference between a three-day base ticket and a three-day Hopper ticket is almost $65, for ages 10 and up.
Learn about Pricing Tiers
If you're purchasing one-day Disney World admission tickets, it behooves you to read up on Disney's relatively new pricing tier. The year is divided into three seasons. They are peak season, regular season and value season.
Peak season is during the holidays and much of the summer. The regular-season consists of late July to the middle of August and value season (when you save the most money), which is late August and most of September.
Purchase Annual Passes
Annual passes are fantastic choice, if you visit Disney World multiple times a year. Obviously, you pay more upfront. However, this option gives you perks to include unlimited admission to the four DW parks (Hollywood Studios, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom), free Photopass downloads and free parking.
Think about Purchasing Disney World Tickets in Advance
There may be situations where you need to purchase your Disney World tickets at your hotel or when you get to the park. However, it's approximately $20 cheaper (per ticket), if you're able to buy your tickets in advance either over the phone or online.
Look for an Authorized Reseller
Unfortunately, you won't save a ton buying passes from an authorized reseller. You can, however, save a few dollars off of the price of each ticket. You typically have the option of picking up your tickets at the park or asking them to be sent to you by mail.
This is a good time to caution you from buying tickets on sites like eBay or Craigslist. In a nutshell, "just say no!" Disney tickets are nontransferable and scammers are everywhere. Don't take the chance. Remember this... if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Move to Florida
Not really! However, if you already live in Florida, save money on Disney World tickets with a Florida Resident Discount. Discount conditions are subject to change and are usually offered several times throughout the year.
Take Advantage of the DW Military Discount
Disney World extends a military discount to those members serving or have served our country, along with their friends and family members. The actual discount is subject to change, just like the one above. But, there are generally no blackout dates. Currently, the discounted tickets involve a four or five-day Water Park Fun or More or Park Hopper option.
Is important to note that you'll probably never find huge discounts on park tickets. But, think about it like this. When you need to purchase several of them, even the typical 10 percent discount makes quite a difference.
The more money you're able to save on Disney World admission tickets, the more you'll have to spend on other aspects of your vacation. In this case, research and due diligence are both your friends. And, taking the time to scout out the lowest prices is probably easier than you think!
