Times Tower & Times Ball – The iconic place where the New Years’ Eve ball drops is a must see if you are in Times Square. The Times Tower was opened in 1905 and in that time was the second tallest building.

Knickerbocker Hotel – This hotel was constructed in 1906 and remained a hotel until 1920. It was then turned into a home for Newsweek magazine for years. It now as of 2013 is back to being a hotel.

Madame Tussauds – You know those wax sculptures you see of famous people and things. Well here is where you can check some of those out. There are over 200 wax statues here!

Site of the Former Paramount Theatre – When in opened in 1926, this theatre was home to shows and famous singers such as Frank Sinatra. This theatre was designed after the Paris Opera House and was splendid in design. It, unfortunately, fell on hard times and was closed in 1966.

Palace Theater – This vaudeville theater opened in 1913 and was where you wanted to make it as a performer. The ‘Who’s Who’ list of celebrities who have performed on the Palace stage, including Ethel Barrymore, Harry Houdini, Will Rogers, Ethel Merman, Judy Garland, Jerry Lewis, Harry Belafonte, Bette Midler, Shirley MacLaine, and Diana Ross.

Ed Sullivan Theater – This theater was built in the 1920s and is 13 stories high. Opening night was November 30, 1927. Since then, CBS has bought the theatre in 1935 and made it into a radio broadcast station. When television was invented, CBS transformed it into a television studio. For the next 17 years, the theater was named CBS-TV Studio 50. Then, in 1953, Ed Sullivan broadcast The Ed Sullivan Show and this would be the home for 23 years to that show. Many other iconic things have happened at this theater.

There is so much history in Times Square for people over the years and it is so much fun to take a look back at what made a lot of the industry today. Times Square is on a lot of people’s bucket lists and rightfully so.
