Recently the kids and I traveled out to Easton,PA to visit the Crayola Factory. Jimmy was supposed to come along, but was extremely sick over the weekend, and missed our trip. The Crayola Factory often has fun days or events that are going on, like a theme for the holidays. We went out to Trick or Treat through the fun rooms.
The kids were really excited by the walls outside of the Factory. They are beautifully decorated, but what the kids were excited about was the feel of the wall. It felt like they were covered with wax.
There are 4 floors of fun to explore at the Crayola Factory. Coming into the building after checking in and getting the tickets, we were given a bag and tokens. The tokens are used for the different things through out the Factory. There are machines to buy more tokens if you wanted them. The first thing we used our tokens for were the make your own crayon labels. The kids got to pick what color they wanted pick a picture to put on it and then name it whatever they wanted. I made a crayon for Jimmy and me. Mine of course is TheSpringMount6Pack and Jimmy is my Alien Stick Man.
We played with a giant Lite Brite type toy. The kids directed balls through a giant maze on the wall. Then the kids had fun doodling on the tablet like screens and then seeing their designs dancing on the walls.
There is a dark room where the kids were able to use the Window/mirror markers to design a board. In this room there is also a fun game on the floor. The projector is aimed at the floor and the kids can play several games by running over the game board and jumping on different places. We want one of these for our house.
Of course, we stopped in to learn all about how crayons are made and watch the demonstration. They has several shows a day, just about 1 an hour, so it it is easy to catch a show, without worrying that you need rearrange your visit.
I think our favorite place to spend time during the day was the 4th floor. We were able to play with melted wax. We were able to paint pages by bringing sticks out of the melted wax and rub it along the paper. Then were able to take a paper plate, pick 2 crayons and add it into a spinning machine. The machine melts the crayons onto the spinning plate and makes a very cool design. Then the kids also go to make their own crayons. The lines were long and it took about 20 minutes for each crayon, so maybe not the best place for impatient children but still lots of fun.
Besides the fun of Trick or Treating and learning about crayons, we also completed the scavenger hunt from the Crayola app. Each question asks something that can be learned by looking at the walls and pictures around the Factory. At the end, we could stop in to gift shop and get a special crayon for completing it.
We headed back to the 3rd floor to end our day so that the kids could climb in the indoor playground before heading back home for the day.
Tickets for the Crayola Factory can be bought online or in person. Tickets can be bought through a special link set up for The Spring Mount 6 Pack readers. Regular tickets are $16.99 and can be bought at a discounted price of $12.99. Get your Discount Crayola Factory Tickets here

What a lot of fun… much more fun than the kids around here had. It was raining and ugly here. Hardly any kids even came out trick or treating.

I never even heard of this place–where is it exactly? I love that it is totally hands on fun and games plus a little bit of learning–wish I had some kids I could take there-where ever it is-somehow I do not think it is near where I live in NY!!

the family has gone to crayola. Trick or treating there would be an amazing time for them. And much healthier than the mounds of candy we have.

That looks like a super fun activity – I love the idea of trick-or-treating at the Crayola Factory. When I was a kid I loved getting mini crayons or little toys in my bucket trick or treating. 🙂
