Cherry Danish Pastries That Taste Like a Bakery Classic

Ingredients
For the Danish:
- 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
- 4 oz cream cheese softened
- 3 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 egg for egg wash
- 1 cup cherry pie filling
For the Glaze:
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 –2 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Directions
Step 1: Prep the Pastry
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unfold the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and cut it into 6 equal rectangles.
Step 2: Make the Filling
- In a bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
Step 3: Assemble the Danish
- Place each puff pastry rectangle on the baking sheet.
- Spoon a small amount of cream cheese filling into the center of each rectangle.
- Add 1–2 tablespoons of cherry pie filling on top of the cream cheese layer.
- Brush the edges of the pastry with beaten egg for a golden finish.
Step 4: Bake
- Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before glazing.
Step 5: Glaze
- Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Drizzle over the warm danishes before serving.
