Directions
Activate the Yeast:
In a bowl, mix the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
Make the Dough:
Add egg yolks, softened butter, and vanilla to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
Stir in flour and salt until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
First Rise:
Place dough in a greased bowl. Cover with a towel and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Shape the Donuts:
Roll out the dough to about 1/2-inch thick. Cut into 3-inch rounds using a biscuit or donut cutter.
Place on a floured tray, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Fry the Donuts:
Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry 2–3 donuts at a time for about 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
Remove and drain on paper towels.
Fill with Jam:
Use a piping bag with a filling tip to inject jam into the center of each cooled donut.
Dust with Powdered Sugar:
Lightly dust the donuts with powdered sugar before serving.
