    These Cheesy Crash Hot Potatoes are absolutely amazing. Cheesy Crash potatoes are crispy and delicious. Simple to make and a great twist on plain potatoes. These cheesy potatoes make a fabulous side dish.

    Cheesy Crash Hot Potatoes

    If you are tired of plain baked potatoes, you’ll want to give this crispy alternative a try. Crash hot potatoes, which originated in Australia and made popular by the Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond.

    What Potato is Best for Crash Potatoes?

    This adapted version features aged Asiago cheese. It has a robust, nutty flavor that adds an interesting taste to this crispy, baked potato base. Rich butter and fresh parsley round out the flavors to create a really fabulous dish your family will love!

    If you want to make these potatoes with a different flavor, you can try:

    • Parmesan cheese
    • Paprika
    • garlic
    • Pepper and fresh chopped rosemary

    What to Serve With These Potatoes

    These potatoes are amazing as a side dish. A few of the things that you can serve these potatoes with are:

    Ingredients

    • Small red potatoes
    • Unsalted butter
    • Aged Asiago cheese
    • Fresh parsley
    • Salt and black pepper

    How to Make Crash Hot Potatoes

    Tip: If you do not have a potato masher, you can use the bottom of a heavy coffee mug or soup bowl to flatten the potatoes. (Choose a sturdy item that won’t crack from the pressure of pushing down on the boiled potatoes).

    Preheat oven to 450°F and line a large, rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil

    Boil a large pot of salted water and add potatoes. Cook for about 15 minutes, or until potatoes are fork tender. Drain pot and set potatoes aside to cool.

    Once cool enough to handle, place potatoes on prepared baking sheet and using a potato masher at 90 degrees and mash until flat. Leave room between the smashed potatoes so they are not overcrowded.

    Drizzle the top each potato with butter and half the Asiago cheese and fresh parsley. Place in pre-heated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until potatoes are golden brown. 

    Remove from oven and top with remaining cheese and fresh parsley. Serve immediately.
