I love how easy it is to make these Snowflake Cookies. The kids love them and can easily help me make them on those long snow days.

    Snowflake Cookies

Looking for a fun snow day activity to do with the kids? Kids will love making these snowflake cookies. Avoid snow day blues with a delicious distraction

This is such a super simple recipe and you don’t even have to cook anything. Just buy two ready made things at the store, put them together and you’re done. These Snowflake Cookies are the perfect recipe/craft for small kids.

These white chocolate covered Oreos are only available during the holidays unfortunately. They start showing up in the stores in October-November, and are not usually available in all stores. For example, I haven’t seen them at Target so far, but I bought these at Safeway for this recipe.

    Tips for making Snowflake Oreos

    • If you can not find these white fudge Oreos in store, you can order it online. There are several different sellers on Amazon.
    • If you can not or do not want to order them online, you can make them with one extra step. Buy white chocolate melting chips and cover the Oreos yourself. Simply melt the white chocolate, dip each cookie into the melted chocolate. Let it harden. Then decorate the cookies with snowflakes.
    • I order the Sparkle Gel online. I have never seen it in the stores around me.
    • Don’t worry if you mess up – just wipe off the frosting with a towel and start over!

When I decided to do this project, I was so excited to have an excuse to buy these cookies. They are my absolute favorite and since they are only available for part of the year, I like to stock up. When I forget or if I run out, that is how I came about making my own.

    Ingredients:

1 package white chocolate covered Oreos
1 package blue Sparkle Gel frosting by Wilton

    Directions
    1. Open the cookie package and get them laid out. Then I googled some snowflake patterns to get an idea of what I wanted on the cookies. I decided to create a few different snowflake patterns.

    2. Open the gel icing and start drawing your snowflakes. This frosting looks a bit like toothpaste, but is really sparkly on the cookie. It’s important to have a steady hand, since it is easy to mess up the lines. I found holding the cookie while I drew the snowflake with the frosting worked best.

That’s it! I laid out these Snowflake Cookies in a Christmas Tree pattern on my plate and let the frosting dry for a few hours. The frosting did get less sticky after an hour or two, but it did not completely harden.
