I have seen a lot of Unicorn cupcakes ideas. Some of them are incredibly complex. When we started talking about making simple Halloween cupcakes and decided on Witch Unicorn Cupcakes, I knew I wanted a simple unicorn cupcake.
Simple Halloween Unicorn Cupcakes
When making these simple unicorn cupcakes, it needs almost no experience or special skills. Creating the frosting spiral is as simple as squeezing the piping bag with frosting. Then it is simply a matter of adding the horn and the ears.
What is used as the Unicorn Cupcake Toppers
I found this cute Unicorn horn and ears set made by Wilton. However, if you are making these cupcakes and need a unicorn cupcake toppers, you can make these same things with fondant. You would take the colored fondant and roll it into strips for a horn. Then roll the 3 colors together in a spiral form. To make the ears, you will make a teardrop shape and then adding a small amount of color, either from icing, food color gel or another colored fondant for the inside.

These cupcakes are super fun for anyone who loves unicorns, but these cupcakes also perfect for Halloween too. These are Halloween witch unicorn cupcakes. Using fun Halloween colors, these cupcakes become perfect for Halloween, or use traditional colors and make regular unicorn cupcakes. The cupcake itself is also perfect because it is colored like a piece of candy corn.
Ingredients in Witch Unicorn Cupcakes Idea
- white cake mix
- eggs
- water
- canola oil
- gel food coloring: Need orange, yellow, purple, orange and green gel food coloring
- white cupcake liner
- unsalted sweet cream butter
- powder sugar
- vanilla extract
- heavy whipping cream
- disposable piping bag fitted with a #22 tip and a large star tip or use fondant.
How to Make Witch Unicorn Cupcakes
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and place cupcake liners into the cupcake pans. Follow the directions on the back of the box to make the cupcake batter. Divide the batter evenly into 3 bowls
In one bowl, mix in a few drops of the orange gel food coloring. In the second bowl, mix in a few drops of the yellow gel food coloring. Leave the third bowl color free
Using a spoon, scoop some orange cake batter into the cupcake liners, enough to cover the bottom.
Scoop some yellow cake batter on top of the orange batter. Scoop some white cake batter on top of the yellow
Bake in the oven for 20 minutes
Frosting Directions
Using a standing mixer, beat together all ingredients except the food coloring. Beat together until creamy and smooth and stiff peaks
Scoop 2 C of frosting into the large piping bag
Divide the batter into three bowls. Mix in one color each into each bowl.
Scoop the purple frosting into one side of the disposable piping bag. Scoop the orange frosting into another side of the disposable piping bag. Scoop the green frosting into the last side of the disposable piping bag.
Directions to Decorate
Frost the cooled cupcakes with the white frosting.
Place the horn into the middle of the frosting.
Place ears on either side of the horn.
Place the “Eyes” below the horn.
Using the colorful frosting, pipe the hair around the top and along the side.

Candy Corn Cupcakes Ingredients
- 1 box of white cake mix

- purple orange and green gel food coloring
- 1 disposable piping bag fitted with a #22 tip
- 1 large piping bag fitted with a large star frosting tip
- Wilton Candy Corn Unicorn cupcake decorations or Fondant Found at walmart in the halloween department
