Make grammar practice fun with this Free Back To School Mad Lib Printable for kids. These silly school-themed stories help children practice nouns, verbs, adjectives, and other parts of speech while enjoying a fun back-to-school activity.

Bring some laughter into the new school year with this Back to School Mad Libs printable. Kids fill in the blanks with different types of words before reading the completed school-themed stories. The unexpected word combinations can create some seriously silly stories while sneaking a little grammar practice into the fun.

Mad Libs are a great way to help children understand parts of speech without making the activity feel like another worksheet. Kids practice choosing adjectives, nouns, verbs, plural nouns, emotions, and other words as they complete each page. They also build vocabulary, reading skills, and creative thinking while seeing how different words work together in a sentence.

This printable Back to School Mad Libs activity is perfect for the first week of school, classroom centers, homeschool lessons, early finishers, indoor recess, or after-school fun. Teachers can use the pages as a fun grammar review or an easy icebreaker that gets students laughing together. The three-page printable set is also an easy activity to keep on hand when you need something educational that requires very little preparation.

Print the Free Back To School Mad Lib Printable pages on regular white printer paper and give each child a pencil. Have kids fill in the word list first without reading the story, choosing the requested nouns, verbs, adjectives, and other types of words. Once all the blanks are filled, have them transfer their words into the matching spaces in the story and read the finished result.

For extra fun, let kids work with a partner and take turns supplying words without knowing what the story is about. When the story is finished, they can read it aloud to the class, family, or group. You can also have children circle the funniest sentence or rewrite their favorite completed story as a creative writing activity.
