While I am far from being good at doing hair, I am learning. Now with 2 girls who need their hair done, I get tired of seeing the same hair styles, so I am always trying to find something new to do. These are 3 hairstyles that look really cute on the girls, look very complicated, but are actually easy. These simple Valentine’s Day hairstyles for girls look adorable. Even the most complicated of them is just a simple french braid.
The first one is the easiest. If you can twist hair, you can do this.
Start with a half pony tail. Split the hair in half, around the ear line. Use a small rubber elastic, preferably the same color as the hair. You want the same kind that the kids are using to make the band bracelets with, or that resemble the bands on braces.
Now you want to flip the ponytail. Basically you want to wiggle your finger down between the the hair in the pony tail and the elastic. Right in the middle.
Grab the pony tail and pull it through. They sell special tools that do this that kind of look like a long rope with a lasso, called a Topsy Tail Hair , but I find it just as easy to do it with my fingers. Make sure to pull it up from the bottom through the hair because that is what creates the indent in the heart.
Now take the pony tail and divide it in half, evenly. Take both sides of the pony tail and twist.
As you let up on the tension, the pieces bounce up, and round out. Then take the twisted sides and elastic them together in a low pony with the rest of the hair. Do not have it pulled tight.
For the second Heart option. Start by doing the same steps as in the first one, up to the step of splitting the pony tail into 2. Then instead of twisting the hair, braid each side as a normal braid. The fasten the hair together just like in the first heart hairstyle.
The last heart braid is a bit more tricky but not as tricky as it looks. It is a basic lace braid, sometimes I see them called front braids. Basically all that means is that you are french braiding but instead of grabbing hair on each side to add in, you are only grabbing from one side. Here is a video if you need a visual. The only difference that I did, was while I only took hair from one side, I still moved the pieces like a french braid. I went over instead of under. Not a big deal either way. Both will look cute. But that is why my braid might look a little different what a traditional lace braid.
Then what makes the heart form, is that you are starting further in on the head and curving. To make the curve is a matter of the direction you are taking the hair from.
This sounds very complicated if you are not great at french or dutch braiding. Try it a few times though, and it will come natural after a few tries. Like I said, that is the most complicated.
And now, you know how to make 3 cute heart hairstyles for Valentine’s Day
