Visit Niagara Falls
Perhaps one of the biggest attractions in the whole of Ontario is Niagara Falls–especially when you’re on the Canadian side of the falls! Whether you choose to cruise right up close to the waters, take a helicopter ride over the waters or even just hike around the area, there are loads of different ways to enjoy Niagara Falls. It’s a spectacle that will never cease to amaze those who visit, and it’s something that you have to experience if you’re ever in Ontario.
We’d suggest planning a trip to Niagara Falls if possible. Tour guides are generally quite good in the area and they’ll help you plan an itinerary so you get to see the water in all of their glory. But if you don’t like guided tours, there’s nothing wrong with taking it easy and just hiking up close to the falls. It’s only around 2 hours from Toronto, so it’s the perfect day trip if you plan to drive. Alternatively, you can take public transportation all the way up to Niagara Falls and Niagara Parks thanks to convenient bus systems.
Visit Kawartha Lakes
Kawartha Lakes offers incredible natural beauty and is located just 90 minutes from Toronto. With incredible communities and a unique landscape, Kawartha Lakes is one of the must-see destinations of Ontario if you’re interested in exploring nature. It’s the perfect place to visit if you enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, fishing, or even paddling and boating. It’s great for active people, but there are also loads of outdoor events to participate in too. Be it camping or attending music events, there’s something for everyone here at Kawartha Lakes.
One of the best ways to experience Kawartha Lakes is with cottage rentals. While you could always book a room at a hotel, we think that experiencing all of the natural wonders up close and personal is a lot more fun and engaging. Waking up to beautiful mountain views and the sounds of birds chirping is not something you get to experience every day in Ontario, at least not on the scale of Kawartha Lakes!
Shop at St. Lawrence Market
If you’re in the mood for good food and shopping then there’s no better place to visit than St. Lawrence Market. It’s perhaps one of the most exciting places for foodies to visit as there are over 200 different vendors to explore. You’ll find everything here from fresh seafood to artisanal condiments and freshly-baked bread. There’s truly something for everyone’s taste buds here and you can spend hours just browsing the different stalls and locations.
One of the highlights of the market has to be the locals. You’ll get into lots of conversations with friendly folks, you’ll be able to sample lots of products, and there are lots of great places to eat out. We highly recommend talking with the locals as we think it’s part of the market experience. Ask for recommendations on food, where to eat, and try out some new snacks that you haven’t had before! It’s a place of discovery–and that’s what makes it such a fun location to visit!
Climb the CN Tower
If you find yourself in Toronto then you’ll probably have spotted the CN Tower at some point in your trip. This towering needle has views of the entirety of Toronto, and you’ll be able to see up to 100 miles in each direction when the day is clear! It was once one of the tallest structures in the whole world, and it’s still one of the most popular attractions in Ontario to date. In fact, it’s one of the main reasons why Ontario is such a popular travel destination, especially for people who are looking to discover some of the more intricate and exciting things on offer here.
The tower also houses an award-winning restaurant that constantly rotates. If you’re looking for good food while having a beautiful backdrop, then the CN Tower is one of the must-visit destinations that we highly recommend! It’s a good idea to book early though, especially if you’re visiting Canada during the summer!
