Improve the Standard of Garden Space

A garden can be a pretty dangerous place for children, especially if it isn’t kept up to standard. Some quick examples of garden dangers include tripping hazards, sharp objects, and hazardous plants! This is why garden maintenance is one of the most important children’s summer safety tips. A tidy garden is all well and good. Also hire a pool cleaning service for maintenance if you have neglected it over winter. A dirty pool comes with all kinds of issues!

Don’t Drink When Looking After Children

This should go without saying, but don’t drink alcohol while watching the kids. Despite this, many parents in fact enjoy a few drinks while looking after their children. This is problematic for numerous reasons. However, the biggest one is that being drunk leads to carelessness! And this is not good when child safety is your number one priority. If you do want to drink and enjoy yourself, there should be a partner or another adult staying sober to keep an eye on the kids.

Sun-Based Safety Tips for Kids this Summer

Summer, of course, gets hot. Heat can be deadly for children. In fact, there were 33 heatstroke deaths in 2022 in the USA alone. The summer heat means we can all have more fun outdoors. Like safe cleaning, you must take it seriously. Here are some easy summer sun safety tips:

    • Keep the children hydrated with water, pop, and frozen treats.
    • Apply very high-strength sunscreen to protect sensitive young skin.
    • Ensure the kids take swimming lessons and use floatation devices.

These are some of the most vital child safety tips at home when you are caring for the children. And they are very simple to keep up with too! Keep the kids hydrated, protected with sunscreen and shade and ensure they can swim. If they can’t, then provide life jackets and floaters.

Don’t Leave Kids in the Car

Cars get extremely hot in the summer. Leaving children in cars, even for five minutes while you pop into the store, is dangerous and illegal. Unfortunately, this still happens, and children die from being left in a vehicle that essentially acts like an oven! Nothing is so important than it comes above the life of your child! Is it worth the risk? Always ensure there is an adult who can take care of the kids if you need to keep them in the car. If not, then always take them with you.

    Protect Against Bugs and Bites

Summer is great fun, but it comes with dangers. Some of these are natural. Summer safety tips for preschoolers are to protect against bugs and bug bites. Some of the most common in the USA include mosquito bites. This also includes stings from bees, wasps, and hornets. It also bites from deadly spiders like the Black Widow and Brown Recluse! There are bug sprays and repellents you can use. And get the child to the ER immediately following a suspicious bite!

    Summary

Tidying the garden, yard, and pool are quality safety tips for kids this summer as we prepare for fun in the sun! But you must also protect the kids from the sun and dangerous insect bites.
