How to Store this Chocolate Reindeer Cupcakes Recipe
When you make these Chocolare reindeer cupcakes, you want to make you are protecting them from the air. When the cupcakes are done, it is important to keep them wrapped well or covered. I like to use the cupcake carrier because it is designed to hold cupcakes. You can also use a cake stand with a lid as a way to protect your cupcakes. These cupcakes do not need to be refrigerated. Whenever possible, I try to store my cupcakes at room temperature because the refrigerator tends to dry cupcakes out and cause them to taste stale.
Can These Family Fun Reindeer Cupcakes Be Made Ahead
When I make these family fun reindeer cupcakes are I like to make them the day ahead. This is because they are a little intensive when it comes to decorating. Over all it takes about 2 hours to make the 22 cupcakes and the unicorn ears need to set for about 2 hours before addig them to the cupcakes. So for that reason I like to make them the day ahead. If you are want to make the cupcakes ahead and freeze them, that is an option as well.
How Long Do This Easy Reindeer Cupcakes Recipe Last
When you protect these cupcakes from exposure to the air and keep them in an airtight container, the cupcakes will last for about 5 days.
Ingredients in Unicorn Reindeer Cupcakes
- Chocolate fondant container
- White fondant container
- Powdered sugar
- Edible gold spray
- Flour
- Unsweetened cocoa powder
- Baking powder
- Baking soda
- Salt
- Brown sugar
- Sugar
- Canola oil
- Buttermilk
- Egg room
- Pure vanilla extract
- Heavy whipping cream
- Gold foiled antler cupcake toppers
- Royal Icing unicorn horns
- Red premade cake icing
- Green premade cake icing
Other Things You Wil Need
- 1 rolling pin
- 1 cutting board
- Wilton icing tip 2D, #2, 362 leaf tip, and star tip
- Piping bag
How to Make Unicorn Reindeer Cupcakes
Unicorn Ears Directions
Sprinkle some powdered sugar onto your cutting board and rolling pin
Roll out half of both colors of fondant to be 1/8 thick
Using the 2D icing tip, cut out 36 chocolate round circles
Using the #2 icing tip, cut out 36 white round circles
Spray the white circles with the gold edible spray
Using the #2 tip again, cut the gold circle a tad bit smaller
Using a paintbrush, brush a really small amount of water onto the chocolate circles
Place the gold circles into the center of the chocolate
Carefully pick up the chocolate circle and pinch the bottom of the ears
Set aside and repeat with remaining 35 circles
Allow to dry for 2 hours before starting your cupcakes
How to Make Chocolate Cupcakes
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Line your muffin pans with cupcake liners and set aside.
In a large bowl, add together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, sift to combine.
Add in the sugar and brown sugar stir until combined.
Add the oil, buttermilk, egg, cream beer, and vanilla extract. Stir until combined.
Pour the batter 3/4 in the cupcake liners.
Fill each one 3/4 of the way full.
Bake at 350°F for 17-20 minutes.
Remove the cupcakes from the oven.
Transfer the cupcakes to a wire rack to cool
How to Make Chocolate Frosting
In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, or in a large mixing bowl using an electric mixer.
Add the butter on medium speed and beat for 1 minute.
Add in the powdered sugar and cocoa powder 1 cup at a time.
Continue to mix to combine.
Add the heavy whipping cream and vanilla extract.
Mix on medium-high speed until the mixture is combined
How to Decorate Unicorn Reindeer Cupcakes
Frost the cooled cupcakes with the chocolate frosting
Place the antlers into the cupcake on the side
Place 1 ear one each side of the cupcake in front of the antlers
Place a unicorn horn into the middle of the frosting in between the antlers
Using the red icing, pipe 3 red dots on the right side of frosting in front of the ear
Pipe two Leafs using the green frosting behind the red dots for the holly
