When it comes to family life, many tight-knit units out there can’t resist basing a Saturday around a sporting clash. Likewise, when they’re visiting a new location on vacation, being in attendance for a big fixture on the calendar is an understandable preference. However, some sports are better to watch than others.

On the whole, though, there certainly isn’t a shortage of enticing sporting products to immerse yourself in. After all, sport is adored around the world, meaning there’s a wealth of options. From golf events and basketball games to soccer clashes and ice hockey matchups, the options are extensive for families of sports fans.

So, whether you’re planning on exploring more of America in 2026 or you’re finally getting the gang over to Europe in the coming weeks, below are some of the best sports to consider watching in the flesh.

Watching cricket in Australia and India is unforgettable

While they’re two differing cultures, whether you’re in Australia or planning a big trip to India, taking in a cricket match is worth adding to your itinerary. In India, cricket is like a religion, viewed as a key part of the country’s identity. In Australia, it’s treated similarly, although fan culture tends to differ, with Australians being known to chant passionately and devour some delicious food and drink during proceedings.

Premier League soccer is a great experience

With the World Cup on the horizon, an increasing number of Americans are expected to venture to England to watch a Premier League soccer game in the future. London is a popular choice for those who want to explore this truly historic city, and combining your stay with an Arsenal or Chelsea match is highly recommended. There is more to the UK than just London, though. If you’re keen to explore cities like Manchester, then snapping up a ticket for a Manchester United game at Old Trafford is also worthwhile. From comical chants that highlight English soccer’s tribal nature, to sipping on local beers with welcoming fans, a Premier League soccer experience is unrivalled.

Wimbledon is the finest tennis tournament there is

If you’re in London from late June through to July, then getting your hands on tickets for Wimbledon is worth looking into. You can also queue up on the day for ground passes, although watching the biggest clashes requires a ticket for Centre Court. Once you’re inside the home of tennis, you can feel its prestige and remarkable history. With fans from all over the world in attendance, events like Wimbledon Championships are magnificent.

Attending an NBA game in a new city is a must

While you might have a more local NBA team you tend to get behind, attending an NBA game in a new arena is a must. Once you’ve assessed the latest NBA betting lines and read any pre-game team news, you can enjoy unrivaled atmospheres in much-loved NBA arenas like Madison Square Garden. Additionally, TD Garden is a venue that is steeped in history, while the Chase Center is one of the most luxurious arenas out there. Other must-visit NBA arenas include the United Center and Little Caesars Arena.

A UFC fight night is special

First and foremost, UFC fights certainly aren’t for all of the family. However, if you’re keen to plan a memorable sporting occasion for more senior members of your crew to sample, then attending a fight card is essential. The crowd goes wild, you can watch brutal exchanges in the flesh, and the diverse range of fighting styles on an average UFC fight card makes for an entertaining watch.
