How to Store Homemade Simple Syrup
You will want to store the homemade mint simple syrup in a glass jar or container with a lid. Keep it in the refrigerator.
Can Simple Syrup Be Frozen
You can easily freeze the simple syrup. You can place the whole batch into a freezer safe container or you can freeze it in an ice cube tray. Then move the ice cubes to a freezer bag. This lets you take out a small bit as you are ready to use it.
The mint syrup will last for up to 6 months.
Do I need to Sterilize my Container for the Syrup?
Since you want to make sure that nothing grows in the syrup, you will want to sterilize the container before using it. Use boiling water in the glass jar to sterilize it. While you want to make sure you have killed anything in the jar, you don’t have to make it a strenuous experience.

How to Make Simple Syrup
It is as simple as a one to one ratio. It is equal parts – part water to equal part sugar.
In a small saucepan, boil sugar and water over medium-high heat until the sugar is dissolved.
Once the sugar is dissolved, add the mint leave and let simmer for about 10 minutes.
Remove from the heat and allow to continue to steep for 15 minutes.
Strain the leaves from the syrup using a strainer and add to a glass jar. Place it in the refrigerator until you are ready to use it.
How to Make Homemade Simple Syrup with Mint

- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup fresh mint leaves
Directions
- Step 1: Pour the water and sugar into the saucepan.
- Step 2: Turn the burner on medium and bring the mixture to a boil. Stirring occasionally.
- Step 3: Once the sugar has completely dissolved, add in the mint leaves, and let the syrup cook for approximately 10 minutes. It will reduce slightly.
- Step 4: Remove the pan from the heat and let the syrup continue to steep for another 10 – 15 minutes.
