Peppermint Patty Drink
When I was growing up, my grandparents had a bar in the basement. It wasn’t that anyone drank a lot, it was just the place to be together as a family. I remember hearing the music playing, and the signs. My grandfather had what seemed like a thousand signs on the wall. I would sit there and read them, over and over and over. When he passed away and my grandmother needed full-time care, the family had to sell the house. Grandmom moved in with my mom and the family split the signs so that everyone had a little piece of the bar in their homes.
Now, my brother has the tradition. He has a bar set up for everyone to come and hang out. It is funny hearing my little ones, Willow was 5 when she started telling people, I am going over to bar. The looks were hysterical. So for us, the bar is just a place that memories are made.
