Unless you’ve been living under a rock since July 2016, you’ll have noticed the emergence of the augmented reality game, Pokémon Go. A product that is suitable for everyone to play, it’s enjoyed by many after a filling lunch while walking in a local park, during a morning commute to work, or while exploring a new city. However, a number of families also play Niantic’s immersive masterpiece.

While many games aren’t always suitable for some group fun, Pokémon Go generally requires fellow players to make it a more viable option. Sure, more solitary gaming packages through hit releases like Crossy Road and McLuck’s online games like Coin Volcano are also shining right now, but you can’t beat Pokémon Go when it comes to gaming with your loved ones. In fact, alongside family members, you might even come across fellow players while you’re hunting for Pokémon to catch.

In case you need further convincing, or even if you’re yet to experience this truly innovative Pokémon title, below we highlight some key reasons why Pokémon Go is still the best game to play with family.

    Playable on a smartphone device

First and foremost, with Pokémon Go being a smartphone game, it’s immediately accessible for people, given society’s reliance on mobile phones in today’s world. Essentially, it’s a device we all already own anyway. As such, family members simply have to have their phones with them after a hearty meal, they can then download the game in minutes, and you can all join forces as you explore your surroundings.

    Join the same team

Although some trainers might opt to go down their own separate paths, Pokémon Go is perfect for family members to play together as they can join the same team and tackle the title in unison. Whether you decide to go for Instinct (yellow), Mystic (blue), or Valor (red), you’ll be able to come together and complete quests and take down gyms in your unit. Along the way, you might also come up against rival teams. However, with your army of players to overcome, you’ll be viewed as a formidable force, especially if you’re high-level players.

    It’s straightforward to grasp

Once you’ve joined the same team and started covering large distances, you’ll also be treated to a title that is straightforward to grasp. All the game requires is mastering catches and spinning things, whereas other products available to play on powerful console machines and PCs tend to require intricate controls. For more casual gamers, Pokémon Go ticks a lot of boxes. From catching Pokémon to collecting items, players generally have to spin and tap their way to victory in this simple but truly immersive game.

    Exercise required

While many games you can play together involve staying indoors and sitting down for long periods, Pokémon Go’s unique augmented reality aspect means families have to get moving. The further you walk, the more eggs you’ll hatch. Likewise, the more distance you cover, the more Pokémon you’re likely to encounter. You’ll also have PokeStops to spin and creatures to evolve in a game you can play in parks, town centers, and local neighborhoods.

    Regular events to enjoy

Alongside the various quests you can work your way through and the gyms you can dominate, Pokémon Go has a strong selection of events for families to enjoy. There are Pokémon Go community days, seasonal Pokémon spawns to track down, special raid bosses to see off, and so much more. A game that certainly isn’t short of content to get stuck into as you explore landmarks and discover new real-world locations, Pokémon Go is never dull.
