Bird Feeder Toilet Paper Roll Craft

I love to recycle and reuse things. The kids love to make crafts that are useful. This Toilet Paper Roll craft is based on the classic pine cone bird feeder that we have all made as kids or with our kids. but the problem with them is: have you ever tried to hang them? It can be hard. You have to find the right spot to tie a string around the pine cone and then find a way to tie the string to the tree. It can be a bit of a pain.

How Should I Hang This Outside?

Toilet paper rolls make the perfect hanger because it goes around just about any small branch and if you really needed to tie a string onto something, it is still easy to tie a string. Actually, I think it is easier. Plus, just like a pine cone, it is biodegradable and completely eco-friendly.

If there are any empty spots, use the bird seed and sprinkle it on.

Do this for all of the recycled bird feeders. We like to create several of them at a time.

Hang it on branches by sliding the roll right over the branch. The recycled bird feeders can be placed anywhere you can slide the roll onto.

Once the bird feeders are placed, just wait for the birds. Kids will love seeing the birds come and eat from the bird feeders that they made.

This makes a great lazy afternoon or rainy day craft. It is quick, easy and the kids get a kick out of seeing their work hanging around. And a bigger thrill when they see the birds feasting.

I just love this project! It’s great that you can just slide the roll over the branch. Pinned it to my fave diy board. 🙂
