    Easy Oatmilk Recipe

Looking for the best oatmilk recipe? Look no further! This is the only recipe you’ll need to make delicious, creamy oat milk at home.

Oat milk is one of the healthiest and most delicious plant-based milks out there. It’s packed with vitamins and minerals, and it has a lovely creamy texture that makes it perfect for lattes, coffees, smoothies, and baking. Plus, it’s super easy to make at home with just a few simple ingredients.

What Does Oat Milk Taste Like?

If you’ve never had oat milk before, you might be wondering what it tastes like. Oat milk has a mild, slightly sweet flavor that tastes similar to cow’s milk. It’s also incredibly creamy and smooth, making it the perfect base for lattes, coffees, and smoothies.

Is it cheaper to make your own oat milk?

Yes, it is cheaper to make your own oat milk! Store-bought oat milk can be quite expensive, but making your own at home is very affordable. It costs about 70 cents to make a gallon of oat milk from scratch and it costs anywhere from $3 to $7.

Plus, you’ll know exactly what’s in your oat milk and you can customize it to your liking.

How to make an oat milk recipe that’s not slimy

Why is oat milk slimy? This seems to happen with many homemade oat milk recipes. The main reason oat milk is slimy is because the oats release a sticky substance called avenin when they’re blended. This sticky substance can make your oat milk slimy and thick. However, there are a few things you can do to avoid it and make and oat milk recipe not slimy.

Do not soak the oats. Soaking the oats releases more of the avenin, which will make your oat milk slimy.

Make sure the water is cold. If you use hot water, the oats will cook and release more of the avenin.

Use a high-powered blender. A high-powered blender will make it easier to blend the oats and avoid a slimy texture.

Add less water. If you add less water, the oat milk will be thicker but less likely to be slimy.

Is oat milk healthier than milk?

There are many benefits of oat milk that make it a healthier choice than cow’s milk. Oat milk is lower in calories, fat, and cholesterol than cow’s milk. It’s also packed with vitamins and minerals, and it’s a good source of fiber.

What’s healthier almond or oat milk?

There are many different types of plant-based milks on the market, and each has its own health benefits. Oat milk and almond milk are two of the most popular options. Both are packed with nutrients, but oat milk has a few more health benefits than almond milk.

    • Oat milk is a good source of fiber, while almond milk is not.

    • Oat milk is lower in calories than almond milk.
    • Oat milk has a lower sugar content than almond milk.

So, what’s the verdict in my opinion? Oat milk is the healthier choice! It’s a great source of fiber and protein, and it has less sugar and calories than almond milk. Plus, it’s just as delicious and creamy. Give it a try in your favorite recipes or enjoy it on its own.

What Type Of Oats Are Best For Oat Milk?

I think old fashioned oats or rolled oats work the best for making homemade oat milk. Quick oats are processed too much and will result in slimy milk. This oat milk recipe using steel cut oats will not be as creamy as using old fashioned oats.

What do you do with leftover oat pulp after making oat milk?

After making oat milk, you can use the leftover oats in a number of ways. Here are a few ideas:

Add them to smoothies or oatmeal for extra texture and nutrition.

Use them as a binding agent in recipes like veggie burgers or meatballs.

Make oat flour by blending the oats in a food processor or blender.

Add them to soups or stews for extra thickness and creaminess.

Use them as a natural exfoliator in DIY skincare recipes.

Do you have to refrigerate oat milk?

Yes, you should always refrigerate oat milk. You want to store it in an airtight container. It’s best to consume it within 7-10 days of opening. You can also freeze it for up to 6 months.

What do you need to make oat milk?

All you need to make oat milk are oats, water, and a blender! You’ll also need a fine mesh strainer, fine mesh sieve, or cheese cloth to strain the milk before drinking. Even a coffee filter will work.

    Is quick oat milk gluten-free?

Oats are supposed to be gluten free. However, you want to check to make sure there isn’t any cross contamination. If you need to make sure the oats are gluten free because of gluten sensitivity or celiac disease, make sure the oats are certified gluten free when making the vegan milk. Most stores offer gluten-free oats but if you have trouble finding them at a store, you can get them online as well.

Can I make flavored oat milk?

I am sweetening the oat milk with dates, vanilla extract and cinnamon. Sometimes, I will also add a pinch of salt. You can make the oatmilk with just the oats and water to make unsweetened oat milk. You can also add things like honey, cocoa powder to make chocolate oat milk, berries or maple syrup or extracts to flavor the oat milk.

    Does homemade oat milk froth?

When you make homemade oat milk, it does not get frothy like store bought. Store bought oat milk has more ingredients added, like stabilizers, that help it froth and lets it get heated up without turning slimy.

Tips to make this perfect oat milk recipe creamy

Oat milk can be a great addition to your diet. It has a lot of health benefits and it is a great vegan choice for milk. But if it is a slimy mess, you won’t want to drink it. So my tips for making the perfect oat milk every time:

Do not soak the oats. This will make it more like overnight oats. Overnight oats are delicious but not when you are making oatmilk.

Always use cold water. You are not making oatmeal so you don’t want that sticky slimy texture.

Do not over blend it. Blend it for up to 60 seconds. Start at 30 seconds and then move up to 60 as needed. Overblending will cause the oat milk to be slimy.

While you are straining the oat milk, do not squeeze it. You need to strain it but when you squeeze it like you do with nut milk, you activate the phytic acid, the stuff that makes it gummy and slimy. Use cheesecloth, a nut milk bag or even an clean tee shirt.

Want the creamiest oat milk. Strain it twice. It takes a few extra minutes but it is worth the extra effort.

I like to store my oat milk in a mason jar or something similar in the fridge. It gives it the air tight container it needs to be in but it also lets you shake it easily.

If you notice some sentiment at the bottom of the jar, just give it a good shake. It is natural to have a little separation and once shaken, it will be creamy again.

What can I use DIY oat milk for?

You can use this oat milk recipe for anything you would use store bought oat milk. I love to add it to my coffee in the morning. It is also great in smoothies, baking or just drinking it plain.

Just about anything that you use milk or almond milk for, you can use oat milk for. Some of my favorite ideas are
