Salted Caramels with Pecans Recipes
Brownies are the best! They’re so rich and chocolatey. These are just like regular brownies but with an extra layer of caramel on top that adds a delicious hint of sweetness to each bite.
When it comes to brownies, I can not get enough. Some of my favorite recipes are The Most Incredible Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownies, Mint Chocolate Cheesecake Brownies, Peppermint Mocha Brownies, and The Best Cosmic Brownie Cake Ever.
What is a Turtle Brownie
These brownies are ooey gooey brownies that are decadent and delicious. These are rich brownies that are topped with chocolate drizzle, caramel and sat, as well as pecans or walnuts.
This recipe is easy and quick. You will start by making a layer of turtle batter on top of a layer of caramel sauce that you will pour on top of a layer of chocolate. On top you can add chopped pecans or walnuts.
Can I Use Store Bought Caramel Sauce?
You can absolutely use store-bought caramel sauce. It is easier and faster but I have found that not only is it more expensive, it also doesn’t taste as good as this version. Either way, no matter what caramel version you are using, these are amazing.
Can I Make Brownies Ahead of Time?
You can make these ahead of time. You can make them up to 3 days in advance. You will want to make sure to keep it stored properly to keep them fresh as long as possible.
How Long Will Turtle Brownies Keep?
This recipe will keep for about 4-5 days when stored in the refrigerator. They will keep for about 3 months when frozen.
How Do you Store?
Once cooled, place the brownies in an airtight container or freezer bag. It is important to wait until they are cooled so that there is no condensation in the container that will make the brownies soggy. The brownies can be stored at room temperature for a shorter time, or you can store them in the refrigerator and they will last for a few more days.
If you choose to freeze the brownies, place them in a single layer on a cookie sheet and freeze until solid. Once the bars are frozen, transfer turtle brownie to a resealable plastic bag and return to the freezer. This will keep the bars fresh and delicious for a long time.
Thaw overnight in the fridge before serving.
How to Serve Turtle Brownies
Serve this dessert with a big glass of cold milk or a good cup of coffee, or you can eat them right out of the freezer for an even more decadent dessert. You can also top turtle brownie with whipped cream or ice cream for a rich and delicious dessert. Of course, eating the brownies just as is is a great option too.
Can I Leave the Nuts Out?
If you do not like nuts or there is a nut allergy, you can skip the nuts. The brownies are not going to be considered turtle brownies anymore and will be caramel brownies. But honestly, who cares about a name, skip the nuts and eat the brownies!
How Much Does it Cost to Make This Recipe
The cost of recipes can vary from location to location and from one month to the next. The cost for the recipe is based on Kroger prices when we make the recipe. This recipe makes 12 servings. The total price for the recipe is $8.62 and that comes out to about $0.72 per brownie. Not a bad price for something so delicious.
