Blueberry Cake in a Mug
This Blueberry Cake recipe is a delicious, easy dessert that you can whip up in the microwave. Blueberries are one of my favorite fruits to bake with because they add such wonderful flavor and color to whatever I make!

Can you bake with fresh blueberries?
This blueberry muffin recipe is best with fresh or frozen blueberries, although I prefer using fresh blueberries whenever possible. If using frozen blueberries, thaw and dry them first. If using fresh blueberries, toss the fruit with a little flour. This prevents them from sinking to the bottom of the cake.
Can I bake this blueberry mug cake?
You can bake this cake in the oven. However, it will not rise as much as it does in the microwave.
Fill two ramekins with batter, grease the inner linings with butter. Bake them on the middle rack at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until inserted cake tester comes out clean.
Why are berries sinking at the bottom of the mug?
Make sure to roll your berries into flour before adding them to the batter. This will help prevent the blueberries from sinking to the bottom of your cake mix.
When is blueberry season?
April through September is blueberry season for North America. October through March is the blueberry season in South America. It is always best to get blueberries when they are season. They taste better and are cheaper too.
Can I use others berries?
If you prefer another fruit or can’t get blueberries, you can replace blueberries with other fruits like strawberries, raspberries, or boysenberries. Any type of berry will work in this recipe.
How to serve mug cake?
After your cake is ready, you can simply eat it just the way it is. You can also add some fresh blueberries or powdered sugar sprinkled on top. You can also add some whipped cream, sliced almonds, or whipped cream cheese.
How to store Blueberry Muffin in a Mug?
If you have any leftover Blueberries Mug Cakes that are not eaten after a day of cooling on the countertop then it is best to store them in an airtight container and place in the fridge for up to seven days. You can also freeze leftovers for later use if you want even more!
Why Use Ricotta in The Cake Batter
Ricotta gives the cake a perfect texture. The recipe is very light, moist and fluffy but still sturdy enough to hold its shape when eaten without being too sweet or heavy. It makes this blueberry cake recipe absolutely perfection.
Swapping Honey for Sugar
If you do not have honey or maple syrup and you want to use regular white sugar you can swap them. If swapping sugar for honey you need to use double the amount and for maple syrup you need to swap one-to-one.
