Looking for a low calorie and low fat, lighter Shepherd’s Pie? This Weight Watchers Shepherds pie recipe is just as good as a traditional easy shepherds pie recipe but it is only 3 Weight Watchers Points.
Shepherds pie is classic comfort food. Since starting Weight Watchers, I have been trying to take classic comfort foods and make them lighter and lower in points. Taking a classic shepherd pie recipe and making it a Weight Watchers dinner recipe was actually really easy, it just took a few changes.
How is this recipe lighter?
I swapped the ground beef for ground turkey or chicken. Then instead of a regular gravy, I made my own. This is actually incredibly simple. I usually make my daughter a vegetarian gravy so I just swapped the vegetarian for chicken. The most fattening part of this recipe is the mashed potatoes. I use the cheese package of potatoes because it cuts out adding cheese to it, for the same points.
How Many Weight Watchers Points are in Easy Shepherds pie?
This recipe for Weight Watchers lighter shepherds pie makes 8 servings. It can easily be increased to 10 servings, but we love to eat, and that means we like big servings. For 8 servings, it is 3 Weight Watchers Points per serving on the Freestyle program.
