Place the milk in a microwave safe cup and heat it in the microwave for 2 minutes until it is hot. You can also use a small saucepan on the stove. Froth the warmed milk using the milk frother until it is double in size.
In your coffee cup, add the espresso shots and the vanilla syrup.
Add the milk, saving the foam for the top.
Finish the vanilla latte with whipped cream.
Hint: If you do not have a milk frother, you can use a mason jar and shake it until it is about double the size. This works whether you are making an iced latte or a hot classic latte.
🥄 Variations
Feel free to get creative with your vanilla latte. Here are some variations to try:
- Make it a cold coffee drink. This easily becomes an iced vanilla latte recipe. Make the espresso and let it cool. Instead of steamed milk, keep it cold when frothing it. Serve it as iced coffee.
- If you don’t like espresso, you can use strong coffee instead.
- If you do not have syrup, you can make homemade vanilla syrup or use vanilla extract.
- Make it a skinny latte. Use a sugar-free vanilla syrup.
- You can also add a sprinkle of cinnamon or cocoa powder for an extra special touch.
- Mocha Vanilla Latte – Replace the vanilla syrup with mocha syrup and top with chocolate shavings.
- Cardamom Vanilla Latte – Add ½ teaspoon of cardamom powder to the espresso shots before adding the other ingredients.
- Hazelnut Vanilla Latte – Replace the vanilla syrup with hazelnut syrup and add a sprinkle of chopped hazelnuts as a topping.
🍽️ What to Serve With This
Coffee, and lattes, go with just about anything. I mean drink it in the morning with breakfast or drink it during the afternoon for a pick-me-up. And it goes perfectly with dessert.

🍶 Storing
I like to make the vanilla lattes as I am ready to drink them. You can make the vanilla latte ahead of time and leave it in the fridge for a few hours, however, I don’t recommend storing it longer than that. If you plan to make multiple lattes ahead of time, just be sure to store them in an air tight container.
