Looking for a fun summer craft? Want to celebrate Memorial Day or 4th of July with a fireworks craft? Try this simple Fireworks Salt painting. It is a quick and easy craft that kids will love. Create some salt art today.  #painting #4thofjuly #saltpainting #fireworks

The kids and I do a lot of crafts. This is a fun and simple craft that can be done in a short time. It doesn’t take a lot of materials (read that as a super cheap craft for kids) and when the kids are done, they can hang the salt painting in their room.

What is Salt Painting?

Salt painting is kind of like using glitter. You put the glue down and add the salt over top. Then you paint the salt. It really is that easy. It can be made for any style of painting and we are making a firework craft with these. This salt art looks really cute hanging in different locations. While it doesn’t last forever, salt art is easy to make.

4th of July Crafts

My kids automatically think of fireworks when they think of 4th of July. After our 4th of July picnic, we always do fireworks. It is easier and more fun than going to a big fireworks display. Plus it is a tradition for us. So what better way to have a 4th of July craft than to do fireworks. A fun way to do a fireworks craft is making a fireworks salt painting.

This couldn’t be easier and it is extremely inexpensive to make Salt Art

  • Black Construction Paper
  • Glue
  • Salt
  • Paint or Markers

You can use watercolor paints, markers or even food coloring and a food dropper. This is such an easy craft, the possibilities are endless.

How to Make Salt Painting Fireworks

With the glue, draw the shape of fireworks over the paper.

Sprinkle the glue with salt. You want a heavy coating.

Let dry. Once the glue is dry, shake off the excess salt.

Whatever kind of paint you use, you want it very wet. You do not want to have to brush the salt too much. If you have to brush too much it can remove the salt.

Let the paint dry.

Spray the paper with hair spray to help the painting last longer. This isn’t necessary but it makes it last longer.
