    valentine's day flower pot

I love to give presents, especially when the presents are things that the kids and I make. Valentine’s Day is coming up and the kids and I wanted to make something fun that could be given as Valentine’s Day present for grandparents. They will love the fingerprint hearts.

    Flower Pot Crafts

I love making flower pot crafts. These are crafts made using inexpensive terra cotta flower pots. Often times you can get these pots at the dollar store or under $2 at Walmart. We love creating different flower pot crafts like Make A Garden Bird Bath- Flower Pot Crafts,  Topsy Turvy Flower Pots, Unicorn Planter With a Cactus Horn, Making a Terra Cotta Turtle Garden Decorations and Easy Leopard Print Painting Tutorial.

    Fingerprint Crafts

I love crafts where the kids have their little fingerprints on it. It is why we do so many fingerprint crafts. I love seeing how cute their little fingers were. I am always blown away by how fast the kids are growing. So any kind of fingerprint craft is always going to hold a special place for me. With this fingerprint craft, the kids are using their finger prints to make hearts, perfect for Valentine’s Day.

    Heart Crafts

With Valentine’s Day only a few days away, you might be looking for a few heart crafts for last minute Valentine’s Day crafts. Valentine’s Day Flower Pots

These flower pots are a great Valentine’s Day craft idea because everything can be bought at the dollar store. The dollar store by me sells everything including the modge podge.

    Modge Podge

Start by painting the flower pots. Paint one white and one red.

Once the paint is dry, paint the child’s finger. Press the first fingerprint leaning left and the second print leaning right. This forms the heart. Have the bottom overlap.

how to make fingerprint heart crafts

Once the flower pot is dry, modge podge it. This helps to seal the paint and make it more durable. It also gives the pot a shine.

Once the Modge Podge is dry, add in something on the bottom to stop the soil and water from flowing out. I like to put in a napkin folded up in the bottom. Add in some soil and get it ready to add in some flowers. Depending on the person you are giving it to, you can either use a full-size plant or plant some seeds. I planted some beautiful flowers that were given to me by the kids for my birthday.

I keep the flower pots that the girls made on my front porch. I love looking at it. Seeing the little fingerprints just make me happy. It is always nice to look back on seeing little things like this and remember how small the kids once were. Time goes too fast and this is just a fun reminder.
