    Easy General Tso Chicken Recipe

    Ingredients

When I am making this recipe, I like to use frozen popcorn chicken. You can also use boneless, skinless chicken breast for a lighter version, or use boneless, skinless chicken thighs that you coat in flour and fry.

Ingredients in General Tso Chicken Sauce

    • Chicken broth
    • Tomato paste
    • Soy sauce
    • Rice vinegar
    • Hoisin sauce
    • Chili paste
    • Sesame oil or vegetable oil
    • Sugar or sugar substitute
    • Cornstarch
    • Sesame Seeds
    • Fresh Chilis, Red Pepper Flakes, and fresh garlic (optional)

How to Make General Tso Chicken

Start by making the chicken. Either bake the frozen chicken according to the directions or dice the chicken breast and bake until it is done.

While the chicken is baking, mix the sauce ingredients together, making sure to dissolve the sugar and cornstarch.

Add a small amount of oil into the wok or frying pan. If adding fresh chilis and fresh garlic to the sauce and sauté (or stir fry).

When the chicken is done, add the chicken pieces to the sauce in the pan and coat thoroughly.

Cook the sauce and chicken for a few minutes until the sauce is nice and thick and the chicken has absorbed it.

Serve with fried rice and a veggie, and of course fortune cookies.
